The was quickly devouring the grass now. There were sharp pops and sizzles as the ice which encased the vegetation melted and the water evaporated against the the furious heat. Thick, black smoke masked the sky and soon Azusa couldn't see the moon. Everything was suddenly hazy. Through the smoke one could see the hot glow from the flames and the embers were as numerous as stars. The mans hand still gripped her wrist tightly, and Azusa was so thankful he didn't have his iron grip about her other wrist. Suddenly she was yanked to the ground with the man; she let out a surprised gasp as her body collided with the cold ground and struggled to get away from the man as he slowly dragged her towards the ring of fire.
Azusa fought the whole way, but soon the heat was like that of a hot summer day without shade. She felt as if her skin were exposed directly to the sun and it hurt. Holding her free arm in front of her face Azusa once more tried to free herself from the man's grasp, and again the attempt to escape ended in failure. The next time it wouldn't, though. They were close enough where the ground was still hot from the fire's passing. The ring had been decreasing in size with each passing second. Burnt remains littered the ground, and glittering embers lay in the sooty dirt. Biting her lower lip Azusa grabbed at the embers left within the remains of a burning stick. The heat was sudden and the pain was immense - this was a very stupid thing to do, but it was definitely the only way to get away from the man.
Digging her heels into the ground, Azusa leaned backwards and yanked the man about to face her. He greeted Azusa with a snarl, his white teeth peering between chapped lips. "Come on!" He started to growl at her, but it ended instead in a horrified yelp as he thrust himself backwards away from Azusa, his hands pressed against his face. She had mashed the hot embers in her hand against his eyes - hopefully blinding him - in an attempt to escape. And it had worked, but now her hand was broken and the skin was melted. Fresh, stinging pain emanated from the burns and the Mizuno grimaced with each pulse. She brought her hand close to her chest and pushed herself to her feet and ran in whatever direction she could.
Every direction looked the same, and soon she had no idea where she was. The smoke was stinging her eyes and burning her throat. She felt as if she wasn't breathing enough and her mind was beginning to blur. But she had to get out, she just had to... That's when she ran into something and two strong arms braced her body against theirs. A terrified yelp escaped from her lips as she tried to push away. That wasn't going to happen, though. "Let go!" She hissed and jammed her knee into the tender are between the bodies legs. She was released immediately and the figure dropped. Whirling around Azusa ran blindly in the opposite direction, until she came upon the wall of the flame. She retreated quickly and dropped to the ground.
Beyond the wall of flame she could see the caster nearing Hindari. He was behind the Izumi and it seemed that the demon didn't realize he was there. Because Azusa was downwind she could hear the sharp syllables of his spell, something that was probably lost to Hindari's ears against the crackling and roaring of the nearing circle of flames. In moments something formed in the casters hands - a bow? But it wasn't wooden or anything... it seemed to be made out of... fire? He drew some string and as he did so two arrows formed. He aimed and fired. The arrows shot towards Hindari, and without thinking Azusa sent a tendril of light right at the arrows, hitting them dead on and causing them to fade. A gasp of exclamation came from the caster and he turned about. His eyes locked on Azusa and some word slipped from his mouth - one she couldn't hear, nor read upon his lips. Now she was his target, though, and he tugged at the string upon the bow once more to form two arrows. He released them. One skimmed her shoulder and the other scraped past her side - the wounds they left stung terribly and caused her balance to waver in her attempt to avoid them. As she pushed herself up the man had already formed two more arrows. She had no time to avoid these this time. One missed while the other hit her directly in the shoulder blade.
Azusa gasped and her eyes widened as the arrow passed through her. It didn't cut through, more like a passing of extreme heat through her body. It was so painful and unexpected, Azusa dropped to the ground - probably the best thing she could have done, really, because had she stayed on her feet another round of those arrows might've had her name on it. But the caster's attention was diverted towards the Izumi now...

The fire was a mess and a horrid hassle to Hindari as his dark eyes shifted around. Every single possibility of escape was shot down and he felt as if he might just be trapped. Just maybe...He sighed as he stayed close to the ground. Even close to the ground it was getting harder to breathe without coughing. The time was slowly running out. He had a limit and ever second was quite crucial for him. He had been in tight situations like this before and it often took a reckless or last second burst of thought to get through them. And to think - it had just all started out with him trying to get two Izumi boys home. Everything just had to be a huge bother to her, didn't it?
While in his thought he was not aware of the caster. This would draw a small, uncharacteristic curse out of him as he heard the white energy stop the arrows from hitting him. He should've been more careful and inspected the area. If he had done that he might've spotted the caster in time let alone dodge the arrows without help. Hindari gazed in the direction of the caster, realizing his arrows now directed at the Mizuno. This was a nice distraction though it may cause Azusa some harm. But Hindari was wanting to escape and the caster was his main enemy.
The Izumi demon decided to go through the fire, moving forward at a quick pace and using the shadows to separate the flames. He kept his guard up as he made his way away from the caster, circling around to be positioned behind him. This would be a good position if the caster was unaware of his presence. A launch attack. His claws were to rake down the caster's back and if the caster were to spin around - rake down his neck.

The caster was eliminated, blood draining down his throat and shooting into the air in a red mist. He lay on the ground, hand to his throat, squirming around in pain as he tried to speak words of healing - but the attempt was in vain, and soon the last breath of life slipped past his lips and lost in the swirling smoke of the spitting fire.
Azusa trembled from the pain in her shoulder, and pressing a hand to it, gasped. The flesh was raw and seemed cooked. Her shirt was burned through, and a hole existed where the arrow had passed through her. A soft whine came from her as she sat up and glanced down at the wound. It looked bad... and her arm was trembling from the pain. Azusa cursed herself for not avoiding the attack sooner. Her maroon eyes shifted towards Hindari and the caster - who was no longer a threat - and the slightest of smiles touched her lips. He was okay... Azusa stood and glanced around. It was time to get out of this fire...
No openings were apparent in the ring of fire, and it was starting to devour the fields too quickly. It was moving towards Hindari and herself as well as spreading out to further expanses of the field. She'd have to find a way out, soon, or more than her shoulder would be burned. Clutching her arm in an attempt to keep it still, Azusa looked quickly for a weak point in the fire. None of the men were apparent anymore, so - if she was lucky - she could escape and get away from this damn village... her eyes drifted around a bit more before coming to rest on the Izumi. What was he going to do...?

The caster was gone now. The next priority was to escape and leave the fire control to the villagers. They had started the fire, it was not his problem. He looked around at all the flames, dark eyes skimming for a weakness. It was because of this he noticed the Mizuno still there. He noted the injury on her shoulder and began to make his way toward her. He couldn't just let her burn...well, he could, but he wasn't going to. She was clueless about her full abilities still so he found that it'd just be sad if she died. She still had a lot more to learn and possibly give to her clan, after all.
"Azusa," he spoke when he reached her, gripping the uninjured shoulder and pulling her over to him. "Stay with me." With that he turned, keeping a grip on her shoulder, and began to walk. His eyes turned to their crimson color and shadows began to make a small path were the two walked. It kept the flames separate long enough for the two to get through before fading away. But this didn't mean he got out without harm. The flames, unpredictable as they were, would lash would and lick at him. Catching him just enough to leave some burns on his exposed skin. He pretended not to notice them, while keeping a close eye on Azusa without really looking like he was trying to to keep her away from the flames. She had already been injured, after all. It was just his turn now to take the hits.
He got the two to the edge of the field, moving out of it and into the streets of the village. He noticed the crowd gathering and dragged the Mizuno into an alley to where the two wouldn't be noticed. Then he finally let go of her and started to inspect whatever wounds he might've gotten. Most being burns.

The sound of her name molded into his voice was enough to send a bright, burning blush across her cheeks. It startled her that her reaction was something like that, and she could feel the extreme dislike of her blushed reaction cause her body to tremble a bit. Azusa turned her face away from him quickly, allowing her hair to hide her face from his eyes as she pretended to observe the fire as he lead her out of the field and back towards the city.
She was so caught up in her thoughts, ones such as "why are you blushing? it was only your name! i'm so stupid!". She was barely aware of passing through the crowding streets and only seemed to notice that they were away from danger once she felt his hand leave her shoulder. Her blush faded slowly, and once gone she slowly turned her eyes toward Hindari and watched him as he inspected his wounder. She felt a little... guilty, was it? Had she not made him stay longer, he would not have gotten hurt. "Thank you," she said quietly after a few moments, "for saving me... again." Her eyes glanced down for a moment and a nervous feeling slowly began to paralyze her - as well as fear. Where would she go now? ... "You're not hurt, are you?" She asked, worry filling her features.

He was thanked, not like it was required or anything. But it was polite of her. He nodded to her a bit as if to say 'you're welcome.' He had saved this woman so many times that he should just make it a hobby. Her being in constant trouble...maybe even think of it as some training exercise. Save the perpetual damsell in distress. Though it sounded like good training it didn't sound to enticing to him. He stood in the view that demons should learn to take care of themselves to some extent. Azusa did not meet that extent. Hindari was not about to lower his standards on that priority or any other, either. His dark eyes shifted over to her, watching her for quite some time. He was not sure what to do with her. Leaving her alone would only mean she'd go off and try and get herself killed again. He faintly wondered if she intentionally did it to get to see him again. Was she apart of the women who had a fetish for him, too? How bothersome, but he would not jump to assumptions until he analyzed it fully.
"No," was his short response. But after a few moments and lifting his hand to touch the burns he added, "just burn marks and some scratches." He looked her over and then eyed the main wound to catch his eye, the hole in her shoulder. "You're hurt." Stating this bluntly he knew that was a 'captain obvious' statement. It wasn't considered 'natural' to walk around with a burned hole in your shoulder. "You should have it looked at." And healed. He thought to their healer - Seth. Seth could heal it up easily, he was a talented healer. Born and destined to be the healer, Izumi liked to say about him. Hindari could care less.

A nervousness began to fill Azusa. Why was he looking at her? His eyes remained on her for a while and she felt herself shrinking back a bit. What was going through his head? Was he having one of those... moments? Just completely disconnected from the world? ... Or had he never been this close to a woman before and hadn't realized something about them? The blush returned to her face, and upon feeling the dreadful burn in her cheeks, Azusa quickly turned her face away from his and gazed at the cobblestone alleyway. She controlled her breath and let her thoughts drift to something other than Hindari... was kind of hard, though. Azusa bit her lower lip and a few moments later found herself relaxing as the blush dissipated.
Then he stated that she was hurt. Azusa looked at him, giving the male a "ya think?" kind of look, but immediately muttered a soft sorry. That kind of this was childish and unneeded. He had just saved her, there was no room for her to be a smart-ass around him. "I'll have it looked at in a while," she said, looking at the wound and softly touching the outer rim of the burn. She winced, the skin was very sensitive, and it seemed the pain rippled through the rest of her wound. A sigh slipped past her lips as she leaned back against a wall and she placed a hand on her other arm at the elbow. Now what? What was he going to do? Leave her again? Probably. Azusa let her eyes shift over the iced cobblestone street that reflected the moon's light. The glow was nice, and it seemed to make everything look like a dream... A dream... Azusa thought and her eyes shifted towards Hindari. A small laugh escaped her mouth. Yes, it could be considered a dream... look who was here...

He cared not for the way she had looked at him. He merely shrugged at the look and nodded at the apology. Words or looks never did anything, they were just words and looks. He didn't understand how people were so affected by them. It was always a puzzlement to him and he guessed he may never understand. It was one of the only things he didn't understand - others. Emotions and actions done by others he did not understand why. Other indivudals were just strange and unknown to him. Something mysterious that would usually entice someone in. But he was not curious about individuals like he should be. He had other things he had to attend to that were more important. His clan was the most important thing right now and that was laid down in his head as final. It was the only thing he should have on his mind.
Hindari gazed at Azusa for a while longer while he went into his own little world. Lost in his own thoughts, he came to a conclusion. He reached forward and grabbed her hand, turned, and began to walk. "Come with me." Was all he said.

He took her hand and started walking away, dragging her with him. She was puzzled at first and a little confused. Where were they going now? Azusa looked around a bit, wondering if there was anything she needed to get before she left... but came to the conclusion that, even if she needed to grab something, he'd say that she could get another sometime in the near future.
"O-ok," she managed to say. "Where are we going?" She asked, curiosity blooming. But a sinking feeling came to her. What if they were going back to the Izumi lands? ... She didn't want to go there! That's where Yin was! And Yin, quite frankly, scared the daylights out of her. Hn, Azusa thought, not sure I'm going to enjoy this...
